LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Left fielder Donald Lutz drove a line drive into right field to score first baseman Thomas Neal in the eighth inning to give the Bats a 1-0 lead as they held on to defeat the Indians by that score on Sunday at Louisville Slugger Field.

Entering the game off of his best start of the season was left-hander David Holmberg (0-4, 5.75). He one-upped his previous start with his longest outing of the season on Sunday. He pitched six and two-thirds, allowed three hits, zero runs, walked four and struck out four.

Holmberg has been impressive after a 0-4 start. In his last five starts he has allowed only six earned runs. This impressive stretch of games has still not earned Holmberg a win. The Bats have had a different result, as they have won each of his last five starts.

Opposing Holmberg was Indianapolis right-hander Nick Kingham (2-0, 0.34). Kingham was just as good as he pitched six innings, allowed four hits, zero runs, walked two and struck out five. Kingham lowered his ERA from 0.44 to 0.34 in four starts this season for the Indians.

The 1-0 final was the sixteenth game this season to end by a one-run final. Louisville is 16-10 in those games the best in the International League. The Bats are now within four games of the division leading Indianapolis Indians.

Louisville did not defeat the starter, Nick Kingham but they did move to an even 31-31 this season against right-handed starters. Thomas Neal scoring in the eighth gave the Bats the lead heading to the ninth for the thirty-sixth time and Louisville won for the thirty-fifth time in this season that scenario.

Louisville (43-40) will travel to Columbus (47-36) to begin a two-game series with the Clippers on Monday at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Josh Smith (8-1, 4.00) will square off against right-hander Danny Salazar (1-5, 5.65).
