February 8, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Just because Old Man Winter is still upon us doesn't mean that it's not time for baseball at The Swamp. From Friday, February 26th through Sunday, February 28th, six games will be played between four teams at J.P. Riddle Stadium. Admission to the games is free.
Fans will be able to get a first look at new SwampDogs manager Anthony Williams as he brings his Bobcats from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg to The Swamp to play a three-day round robin against foes from Frostburg State University, Farmingdale State College and The College at Brockport.
"We are excited to be bringing baseball back to The Swamp," said SwampDogs general manager Jeremy Aagard. "Even though it's only for one weekend, it will be great to see some of the best college baseball players in the country playing here at the end of the month."
The first game of the weekend is scheduled to start at 3 pm on Friday when Farmingdale State takes on Frostburg State. The College at Brockport squares off against the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg at 7 pm. The action resumes with games at noon and 4 pm on Saturday, February 27th, and Sunday will see games starting at 9 am and noon.
All four teams compete in N.C.A.A. Division III. Farmingdale State University competes in the Skyline Conference; The College at Brockport competes in the State University of New York Athletic Conference; Frostburg State competes in the Capital Athletic Conference; and the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg competes in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
The Fayetteville SwampDogs 2016 All-Star Summer of Fun kicks off on Wednesday, June 1st at 7:05 pm. Season tickets are available and can be reserved by contacting the SwampDogs at 910-426-5900.
