
Baseball America Names Jackson to 1st Team, Rick to 2nd Team

FARGO, N.D. - Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks OF Nic Jackson has been named to the Baseball America All-Independent League 1st Team, and C Alan Rick has been named to the 2nd Team, the magazine announced.
Jackson, who was named Northern League MVP in September, batted .310 with 26 doubles, 17 home runs 97 RBIs and 76 runs scored in 95 games. He led the league in RBI, games played (95), stolen base percentage (.867) and sacrifice flies (9). Jackson also placed in the top-5 in the Northern League in at bats (384-2nd), runs scored (4th), hits (119-4th), total bases (196-3rd), doubles (3rd), stolen bases (26-5th) and extra base hits (43-3rd). In addition to being named MVP, Jackson was also selected to the Northern League Post-Season All-Star Team.
Rick completed his second season with the RedHawks in 2009. He batted .262 with 18 doubles, one triple, 18 home runs, 65 RBIs and 50 runs scored in 85 games this summer. He tied for fifth in the league in home runs. Rick was selected to the Northern League Post-Season All-Star Team for the second consecutive season in 2009.

REDHAWKS NOTES.
* The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks ended the 2009 season averaging 3,870 fans per game, good for 11th overall among 61 teams Independent Minor League teams, up two spots from 2008 when the team finished 13th overall. The Winnipeg Goldeyes had the top per game average in Independent baseball, averaging 6,180 fans per game. The Kansas City T-Bones (5,340 per game) finished fourth overall, the Schaumburg Flyers (4,394) were eighth, the Gary SouthShore RailCats (3,539) were 20th and the Joliet JackHammers (3,250) finished 23rd.
* Former Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks OF Jon Weber was a key member of the USA team which recently won the IBAF World Cup held in September in Europe. Weber and Team USA defeated Cuba for the gold medal. In 14 games, Weber lead Team USA with a .413 batting average. He added 4 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 13 RBIs and ten runs scored. The American squad, which went 14-1, was made up of Triple-A and Double-A players. Weber was also named to the All-Tournament Team. For more information, go to www.usabaseball.com .
* Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 1B Randall Simon and former 3B Yurendell DeCaster also participated in the IBAF World Cup as members of the Netherland team which finished in sixth place. Simon hit .333 with three doubles and four RBI in 11 games. DeCaster batted .289 with three doubles, a home run and eight RBI in 11 games. For more information, go to www.ibaf.org .
* Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks OF Justin Justice has signed to play winter ball with the Lake County Black Bears of the new Florida Winter Baseball League.
