
Barrage Win First Game At Home

Philadelphia, PA (July 28, 2005) - The Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor lacrosse league, faced off against the Long Island Lizards Thursday night at Villanova in front of 2,548 fans. This game was the third match-up between these two team, prompting a very physical game.
The Barrage opened up scoring early in the first with a goal by B.J. Prager followed by two more. Long Island broke their streak with two goals by Stephen Berger. Each team went goal for goal to round out the first quarter. The score was Philadelphia 5, Long Island 4. Each team had three penalties a piece in the first. Roy Colsey scored his first two-point goal for the Barrage at 14:42, followed by a goal from Long Island. Michael Springer scored again for the Barrage, followed by a goal from Blake Miller for the Lizards to round out the second. The score at the end was Philadelphia 8, Long Island 6.
Colsey opened up the second half with another two-point goal at 12:02. Prager scored the next two goals for the Barrage. Long Island's Chris Massey ended the Barrage's scoring streak with his goal at 1:58. A.J. Haugen scored again for the Lizards at 1:01. Rookie Jed Prossner scored with a dive shot from behind the net with a tenth of a second left in the third. The score at the end was Philadelphia 13, Long Island 8. This quarter was a rough quarter for both teams; the Barrage had eight minutes worth of penalties.
The Lizards scored three goals in the fourth to try and cut the deficit but with three more goals by the Barrage, they secured their first win at Villanova Stadium, 16 to 14. The Bud Light MVP was Roy Colsey for his two, two-point goals tonight to help the Barrage to a big win over the Lizards. Philadelphia leaders were Prager with six points (4G,1A), followed by Colsey with three points (3G), and Michael Springer (2G,1A). Long Island Lizards were Chris Massey with three points (2G,1A), followed by Blake Miller with three points (2G,1A) and Jay Jalbert with two points (2A).
