Barrage to Take on Lizards this Saturday

(Bridgeport, Conn. July 10, 2003) - The Bridgeport Barrage, Connecticut's only professional lacrosse team and a charter member of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), will be taking on the Long Island Lizards this Saturday, July 12, at 7 p.m. at Harbor Yard.

The Lizards are coming off their second loss of the season that came at the hands of the Boston Cannons this past weekend. The Barrage have not had a game since June 27th and are looking forward to taking on the Lizards for the second time this season.

Last Time They Met: The Barrage lost to the Lizards 23-19 on June 27, 2003, at Mitchel Athletic Complex, amidst the hardest played game in MLL history. The Barrage outscored the Lizards 9-5 in the first quarter and were only down by two at half time as the score stood at 15-13. With 14:04 left in the fourth quarter Dan Denihan scored his fourth goal of the night to tie the game at 18-18. Bridgeport was outscored 5-2 in the final quarter as Jay Jalbert scored his seventh goal of the contest. Top performances for the Barrage came from Dan Denihan (4g, 3a) who led the team with seven points and became the first Bridgeport player to reach the 100-goal mark.

The game will be taped by ESPN2 and played on July 15 at 3 p.m. This is the first time that the Barrage will be featured as the "Game of the Week". Upcoming TV games featuring the Barrage include:
