Philadelphia Barrage News Release

For the first time this season, the Philadelphia Barrage will battle the 2005 MLL Champions, the Baltimore Bayhawks at Villanova Stadium. In 2005, the Barrage fell to the Bayhawks both times the teams met, and Baltimore went on to be the MLL Champions. However, the tables have turned in 2006, with the Barrage out on top with a solid 7-2 record, while the Bayhawks have landed in a three-way tie with the Long Island Lizards and Rochester Rattlers with a record of 4-5. Philadelphia is currently tied for first place in the Eastern Division with the Boston Cannons and if the season ended today, would fall in third place as far as the playoffs go. A win over Baltimore this game will be important for Philadelphia, moving them closer to securing that playoff berth and putting the three teams trailing on their heels, into a deeper hole and farther away from the playoffs, not to mention Philadelphia wants to break the two-game losing streak they have with Baltimore. With a win, the Barrage will move to 8-2, defeating every team in the Eastern Division at least once except Boston, who they lost to both home and away. Face off for Thursday night's game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Villanova Stadium and the doors open by 6:30 p.m. Verizon Communications will be sponsoring a poster giveaway of featured Barrage player, Matt Zash.

Philadelphia will travel to Rochester starting their final two-game road trip to face the Rattlers for the second time this season. The game will take place on August 5 at the newly built, Paetec Park. Face off is set for 2:00 p.m. The Barrage will wrap up the 2006 regular season in Baltimore against the Bayhawks in a rematch game on August 12 at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University. Face off is set for 7:00 p.m.
