Rochester, NY (August 5, 2006) - At Paetec Park in Rochester, New York, the Philadelphia Barrage defeated the Rochester Rattlers 18-13. Paul Cantabene was named Bud Light MVP for his performance in the game. Cantabene scored three goals and went 12 for 30 at the face off X.

Rochester started the scoring early for the Rattlers, with a goal by Pat Dutton off an assist from John Grant at 13:51. Philadelphia answered back with a three-goal run by Roy Colsey, Matt Striebel and B.J. Prager. Grant scored twice for the Rattlers to tie up the game and end the first quarter. The Barrage started the second quarter with another three-goal run by Michael Springer, Justin Smith and a two-point goal by Colsey. Each team went goal for goal to finish the first quarter. Goals for Rochester were scored by Grant, his third goal of the game, and Joe Walters. Goals for Philadelphia were scored by Striebel, his second of the game and Paul Cantabene. The scored at the end of the second half was Philadelphia 9, Rochester 5.

Starting off the second half, Philadelphia was three men down due to three different penalties to end the first half. But going three men down didn't stop the Barrage, Striebel scored his third of the afternoon, followed by a Rochester goal by Kevin Cassese and another goal for the Barrage by Colsey. Rochester then went on a two-goal run with goals by Seth Goldberg and Cassese. Cantabene scored for the Barrage with three seconds left on the clock giving Philadelphia a four-goal lead to end the third. Ryan Boyle started off the fourth quarter with his first goal of the afternoon, followed by a goal from Springer off a Boyle feed. Both teams then went into a two-goal pattern that lasted the entire fourth quarter until the end of the game. Goal scores for Rochester were Brodie Merrill, Walters, Grant, his fourth of the afternoon, and two goals from Goldberg. Brett Moyer, his first of his MLL career, Springer, Cantabene, his third of the night, and Joe Ceglia, also his first goal of the season, scored goals for Philadelphia. The final score was Philadelphia 18, Rochester 13.

The Barrage will conclude their 2006 regular season against the Bayhawks on August 12. Face off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
