Barrage Beat Bayhawks 21-11, Clinch Playoff Berth In the 21-11 victory over the Washington Bayhawks, the Philadelphia Barrage won their eight regular season game, earning them a spot in the 2007 NB Zip Championship Weekend.

Washington, DC (August 4, 2007) - In an important match-up between the Washington Bayhawks, the Philadelphia Barrage emerged victorious on a late Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C. The Barrage defeated the Bayhawks 21-11 earning them a trip to the 2007 NB Zip Championship Weekend in Rochester, NY. Matt Striebel scored four goals and recorded one assist en route to the Bud Light Game MVP.

Washington starting the scoring off early with a goal from Mark Frye but Barrage attackmen Ryan Boyle and Jed Prossner each scored one goal to give Philadelphia the lead, Less than a minute later, the Bayhawks tied the game at two off a goal from Tom Marechek. Philadelphia then took a commanding lead when they scored six unanswered goals in a row to end the first quarter. Andrew Combs of the Bayhawks scored to open the second quarter but Barrage midfielder Matt Striebel scored his second goal of the game. Each team went goal-less for the next 10 minutes of play when Striebel scored his third goal of the game off an assist from Kevin Cassese to keep the Barrage ahead by seven. Washington scored two goals in a row, including one from long pole defenseman Shawn Nadelen, his first of the season. Midfielder Justin Smith scored his second goal of the game with just six seconds left, sending the game into halftime.

Boyle got things off to an early start in the third quarter with his second goal of the night for the Barrage. Washington trying to stay alive with a goal from Frye with 12:10 left to go. Seth Goldberg, who scored the game winning overtime goal for the Barrage against the Pride last week, scored his first goal of the night. The Bayhawks dominated the next five minutes of play, scoring two goals. Smith had a diving goal off a timeout, netting his third goal of the night for the defending champs, following by a goal from Michael Springer with just three seconds remaining in the quarter. Bill McGlone scored his second goal of the night for the Bayhaws two minutes into the final quarter of play. Striebel, who has had a scoring slump the past few weeks, came alive tonight for the Barrage, netting his fourth goal of the game with under 11 minutes left to play. The Barrage then went on to score five goals in a row giving them a 12-goal lead. Goldberg, Prossner, Matt Zash and Roy Colsey, who scored two goals, all scored during Philly's five-goal run. Washington finally broke Philadelphia's momentum with a two-point goal from Casey Conor. The game ended with a final score of Philadelphia 21, Washington 11.

The Barrage conclude their 2007 season in a home game against the Bayhawks. Game is being played at United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, PA. Face off is set for 7:00 PM. Tickets are still available by calling the Barrage ticket office at 610.355.8999.
