
Barracudas Win Fifth in a Row

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Barracudas made it five in a row tonight with a 6-4 come from behind win over the Alabama Slammers at the new Arena.
Jacksonville (8-2-0, 16 pts.) fell behind 2-0 early on two goals from ex-Barracudas center Paul Vincent. Mike Wirll of the Cudas picked up his second goal of the season to cut the Slammers lead to one at the first intermission.
In the second, Paul Vincent scored his third of the game and league leading 14th of the season, then Bobby Quinnell made it a 4-1 Alabama lead with his first goal of the season. Then at 13:36 of the second period the Barracudas capitalized on a five on three power play with a power play goal by Klage Kaebel, his ninth of the season. Mike Wirll added his second goal of the night on the power play 42 seconds later to cut the Slammers lead to one. Then 13 seconds later, Derek Toninato goal, his fourth of the year, tied it up.
In third period, Mike Wirll scored his third goal of the game and eventual game winner. Kory Baker added a goal late for the 6-4 win.
The Barracudas were 3-7 on the power play and they peppered Slammers goaltender Jamie Ronayne with 50 shots for the game.
The win moves Jacksonville three points ahead of second place Orlando who lost last night to Lakeland 4-3. In the other WHA2 game Macon shutout struggling Miami 6-0.
Up next, the Barracudas host the Lakeland Loggerheads at the Veteran's Memorial Arena. Face-off time is 7:05.
