Barracudas to Conduct Player Evaluation Camp
July 20, 2006 - SPHL (SPHL)
Jacksonville Barracudas News Release
Jacksonville Barracudas announce that they have solidified plans for a free agent evaluation camp in Bourne, MA on September 20th and 21st, 2006.
The evaluation camp will consist of two on-ice sessions in each of the two days, with all sessions being run as scrimmages, evaluated by Head Coach Rick Allain and GM Gilles Richard. The Barracudas are planning for about 40 players to take part, with the expectations that up to three players will have what it takes to attend main camp in Jacksonville.
GM Richard is looking forward to mining for talent in the North East.
"Coach Allain and I have been overwhelmed by the level of interest there is in the New England-area in trying out for our team," said Richard. "We're only allowed 30 players at our main camp, and it is difficult to evaluate players through stats alone, so we decided to bring a camp to where the most interest is and see if we can unearth a few players."
Coach Allain looks forward to spirited, up-tempo scrimmages.
"We've been very impressed with the credentials of those who have already voiced an interest, and I expect that we'll find some players who may be able to make a contribution to this year's team."
Those interested in registering for the camp can download a registration form on the front page of the Barracudas website (www.jaxcudas.com).
