Barracudas Sign Goaltender And Forward

The Jacksonville Barracudas continue to fill their roster in anticipation of the October 14th start of training camp, with the signings of two players: goaltender Pat Berrigan, and forward Graham Dearle.

Berrigan, 25, has just completed his collegiate career with the Dalhousie University Tigers, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The 5'11, 205-pound goaltender was the voted the most valuable player with the Tigers, and will be beginning his first season as a professional.

"Pat is a quick goaltender with a great glove hand," said Barracudas Head Coach Ron Duguay.

Berrigan is looking forward to starting his professional career in Jacksonville and expects to add another winning season to his resume.

"I've always played with winning teams, and I feel this is a great situation for me to continue that trend," Berrigan said. "I've heard that Jacksonville is a great place to play hockey, so I'm excited."

The Barracudas also signed 25-year-old forward Graham Dearle. Last season Graham played in 47 regular season games for the Southern Professional Hockey League's Winston-Salem Polar Twins in 2004-2005, scoring 12 goals and 10 assists, while adding 138 penalty minutes. It was the 5'10, 183-pound Moosomin, Saskatchewan native's first season as a professional.

"Graham is going to provide a tough, energetic element to our group of forwards," Assistant Coach Brett Strot said.

The Barracudas season will begin with a home game on October 22nd. That night will be also be the team's Military Night, with special discounts and promotions for members of the military. Call the Barracudas' office (904-367-1423) for details on opening night, season tickets, and group packages.
