Jacksonville Barracudas News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The first place Jacksonville Barracudas (23-9-1, 47 pts.) go into this weekend's home match up with Lakeland riding high on a five-winning streak, a league-high 13-game home winning streak, and five points up on second place Orlando.

The last place Loggerheads (6-23-5, 17 pts.) have played the Barracudas tough all season. Lakeland's only appearance in Jacksonville was December 13th and a 1-0 loss.

"Lakeland's going to be tough," captain Derek Toninato said. "They're coming in here and they want to knock us off. They're a hard working, good skating team."

One of the keys to the weekend series will be the line of Toninato, Jamie Miller and John McCabe. In their last five games, they've scored 23 points (7g-16a).

"We're really clicking well," Jamie Miller said. "We've been working real hard all season long. We've been working on moving the puck quicker and communicating better on the ice. It all seems to be working for us," Toninato added.

This is the fourth game between the Loggerheads and the Cudas. Klage Kaebel's five points (3g-2a) and Jamie Miller's four points (2g-2a) lead all scorers in the series. The Cudas have out-shot Lakeland (101-81) and have outscored the Loggerheads (13-7).

On Sunday, the Barracudas head to Miami for the first of five on the road before wrapping up the month with six home games.

"This is the time of year where we need to separate us from the pack. We have eight of nine at home to wrap up the month and playing great at home. We need to pick up a few wins and prove ourselves on the road," Assistant Coach Brett Strot said.

Currently the Barracudas are ranked #5 in the In The Crease/Just Hockey "AA" Top 20.

On Friday night, there's a Happy Hour Party at the Arena with buy one - get one free Bud and Bud Lite drafts from 6-6:30pm. The first 1500 fans will receive a free Barracudas Mini-Stick compliments of Shands.
