Jacksonville Barracudas News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Head Coach Ron Duguay has the Barracudas skating through the paces as they ready for the upcoming WHA2 season, a season of high expectations after a very disappointing inaugural season.

"Everything about this team is different from last season," Duguay stated. "We've hand picked good character players. You can have all the skill in the world but if you're not prepared to be at your best, you become dysfunctional. I have a group of guys from day one that are prepared to do what it takes to win the championship," Duguay added.

One of the players with the desire for that championship is veteran center Brent Scott. Scott was the head coach in San Angelo of the Central Hockey League for the past two seasons decided to step out from behind the bench and return to the active roster.

"I tried to get a scouting job in the NHL this year," Scott said. "I also trained hard all summer long because I just wanted to make sure that if it didn't work out I'd be ready to play. I've always loved the game and playing is more fun than coaching."

Scott, a Calgary, Alberta native is "an agitator" Coach Duguay said. He will also be looked to for a leadership role.

"I'm very happy and excited to be here," Scott said. "I'm going to take it day to day and try to contribute. I'm also going to help the young guys as much as possible."

Scott and the rest of the Barracudas hit the ice again tomorrow morning at 10:30 at Skate World. Training camp is free and open to the public. For a complete schedule, log on to the Barracudas official website at jacksonvillebarracudas.com
