Barracudas Land Another D-Man

Jacksonville, Fla. - Jacksonville Barracudas Head Coach Ron Duguay today announced the signing of defenseman Mark Phenow.

Phenow, a 25-year old Osseo, Minnesota native, was a three-year letterman for Bemidji State University and was the Captain his Junior and Senior seasons. He played in 103 career games, scoring 35 points on six goals and 29 assists.

"Mark is very defense-minded and those guys are tough to find," Duguay said.

Last season, Phenow, a 5' 11" 190-lb. second year pro, played 46 games for the Kalamazoo K-wing of the United Hockey League.

"He's a very defensive defenseman who's got offensive capabilities," Assistant Coach Brett Strot said. "Mark's a great character kid and a real leader."

Phenow and the rest of the Barracudas kick-off the WHA2 season November 7th on the road against the Alabama Slammers. The Barracudas home opener is Friday, November 28th at 7:05pm vs. Miami Manatees in the brand new Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
