
Barracudas Come Home with a Sweep of Alabama

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Barracudas started their WHA2 campaign with a weekend sweep of Alabama beating the Slammers 5-2 on Friday night, and 2-1 in Overtime on Saturday.
The Barracudas head to south Florida to face the Miami Manatees on Saturday, November 15th, and then they're off to Macon to battle the Trax on Sunday, November 23rd. The Barracudas come home for their Home Opening Weekend Celebration on Friday, November 28th vs. Miami Manatees. Face-off time is 7:05 and the JEDC Sports and Entertainment Board sponsor the first sporting event ever in the brand new Veteran's Memorial Arena. The Barracudas will then face-off with the Macon Trax on Saturday afternoon, November 19th at 12:35pm.
THIS WEEK:
Sat. Nov. 15 Barracudas @ Miami 7:05 Miami Arena
The Barracudas face the Miami Manatees who beat the Macon Trax at home last Saturday 10-6. Miami's Eric Perricone scored three goals and added three assists, while Darren Cain netted a hat trick to help Miami to the win.
Miami will host Lakeland on Friday night then Jacksonville on Saturday.

The Barracudas swept the Alabama Slammers this past weekend. Kory Baker led the way and is currently first in the league in assists (5), and tied with Miami's Eric Perricone in points (6). Rookie goaltender Brandon Snee leads the league in minutes played and goals against average (1.49). Barracudas rookie defenseman Chad Gromek's blast from the point won the game in overtime on Saturday.
After two games, the Barracudas are first in the league in power play goals (4) and second in power play percentage (25.00). The Barracudas are second in the league in penalty killing percentage (92.85) allowing only one goal in 14 opportunities.
CUDA BITES:
* The Barracudas open their home schedule November 28th and 29th at the new 16,000 seat Veterans Memorial Arena. Friday night the Barracudas host the Miami Manatees at 7:05pm. The JEDC Sports and Entertainment Board will sponsor the first sporting event ever in the brand new arena.
* Saturday, the Barracudas host the Macon Trax in a special afternoon matinee time of 12:35pm.
* Barracudas will play the New Life Christian Fellowship on Monday night at Ringhaver Park off 118th Street in Ortega. The Barracudas won the last meeting 28-23.
STAND OUTS:
* Kory Baker is tied for the WHA2 lead in points (6) and leads the WHA2 in assists (5).
* Rookie Chad Gromek scored his first professional goal, an overtime-game winner, during a 2-1 OT win in Alabama Saturday night.
* Rookie Goaltender Brandon Snee, a 5th round draft pick of the New York Rangers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, leads the WHA2 in goals against average (1.49).
BARRACUDAS PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
* Kory Baker who scored a goal and added three assists in the Barracudas opener. Kory also assisted on both Barracudas goals, including the game winner in OT on Saturday.
