Montgomery Biscuits News Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Jose Rodriguez's RBI-single in the bottom of the ninth sank the Biscuits (37-40/9-6) and handed the Birmingham Barons (40-44/9-6) their second walk-off victory of the week against the Butter and Blue, 5-4, on Thursday night at Regions Field.

Jason Bilous made his 14th start of the season for the Barons, and allowed just a two-out double to Osleivis Basabe in a scoreless first, and struck out Greg Jones swinging. Sean Hunley (3-1) made his third start of the season for the Biscuits, and the right-hander worked a one-two-three bottom of the first, inducing a pair of groundouts and striking out White Sox number two prospect Oscar Colas.

Niko Hulsizer sizzled a single to right off Bilous in the top of the second and Roberto Alvarez drew a walk, but the righty struck out Jordan Qsar and Tyler Frank to keep things scoreless. Craig Dedelow led off the bottom of the second with an infield single and then stole second. A Jones throwing error at shortstop to third base brought home the first run of the game and an RBI-single by J.J. Muno later in the inning doubled that Barons lead to 2-0.

Jones would atone for the error with a near inside-the-park home run in the top of the third. Jones' triple set up Basabe's RBI-single that made it a 2-1 contest. Misner drilled a two-run homer to center in the next at-bat and put the Biscuits ahead for the first time at 3-2. Colas' RBI-fielder's choice knotted things up at three in the bottom of the third.

Bilous fired a one-two-three top of the fourth, and then Hunley worked a scoreless bottom of the fourth. Bilous struck out two more in the top of the fifth to run his total to six, and Joe LaSorsa worked a one-two-three bottom of the fifth in relief of Hunley.

Fraser Ellard came on for Bilous and worked a scoreless top of the sixth, striking out two. LaSorsa was back on in the bottom of the sixth and after walking Dedelow to begin the frame and then serving up a single to Raudy Read to put runners at the corners and nobody out, the southpaw retired the next two hitters before surrendering a broken-bat RBI-single into right by Muno to put the Barons back in front, 4-3.

The Biscuits would battle back in the top of the eighth against Theo Denlinger thanks to a stolen base by Hulsizer and an Alvarez RBI-single that tied the game at four with two outs. Carlos Garcia pitched a one-two-three bottom of the eighth after working a scoreless seventh and sent the 4-4 game to the ninth.

The Biscuits did not score against Brian Glowicki (2-3) in the top of the ninth, but Muno singled off Zack Trageton (0-4) to begin the bottom of the ninth, and then moved to second on a wild pitch. After an Ian Dawkins fly out moved Muno to third, Rodriguez rifled an RBI-single on the ground up the middle for the Barons second walk-off win in three days.

The Biscuits will try to bounce back on Friday when Michael Mercado (2-3) faces Garrett Davila (4-1) at 7:05 PM CT.

The Biscuits are in the middle of a six-game road trip, but will return to Riverwalk Stadium after the All-Star break for a three-game series against the Mississippi Braves for Gump Weekend beginning on Friday, July 22 at 6:35 PM CT when there will be an Adult Greenbow Biscuits Replica Jersey Giveaway presented by Direct Auto Insurance.

The rest of the series will include Fitness Night & MAX Fireworks on Saturday, July 23 at 6:05 PM CT, and a Kids Replica Jersey Giveaway presented by Hyundai Motor Manufacturing of Alabama & Bark in the Park on Sunday, July 24 at 3:33 PM CT.
