Hoover, AL (May 10th)- The Birmingham Barons erased an early two run Diamond Jaxx lead with seven unanswered runs as the Barons took game one of the five game series, beating West Tenn 7-2 before a crowd of 5462 at Regions Park. The loss by the Diamond Jaxx drops the Jaxx two games behind the Huntsville Stars in the Northern Division while Birmingham remains two games up in the Southern Division.

Birmingham was led offensively by former Diamond Jaxx OF Miguel Negron and Micah Schnurstein. The duo had two RBI's each on the night. Birmingham had just five hits on the night, taking advantage of three Diamond Jaxx errors and seven walks by Jaxx pitching. Clayton Richard picked up the win for the Barons, moving his record to 3-5 on the season. Richard allowed two runs on five hits over six innings.

Doug Fister suffered the loss for the Diamond Jaxx. Fister (4-2) allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits with four walks and two strikeouts in five innings of work. Adam Moore and Jon Nelson had two hits each to lead the Diamond Jaxx seven hit attack.

Game two of the five game series is set for Sunday afternoon at 2:05 CDT. RHP Rich Dorman (4-1 2.13) will toe the rubber for West Tenn. Birmingham will counter with RHP Kyle McCulloch (1-4 4.62).
