Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons, American Hockey League affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, will play a preseason game against the Texas Stars in Cedar Park, Texas October 2 at 7 p.m., the Barons front office announced today.

This game will be the only preseason game the Barons will play and will mark the first game for the Barons in franchise history. The Stars are the primary developmental team for the Dallas Stars of the NHL. Texas made the playoffs in the team's inaugural season and advanced to the Calder Cup Finals against the Hershey Bears.

"It's on opportunity for us as a coaching staff to see how our team stacks up against another team," said Barons head coach Todd Nelson. "We are playing against one another in practice, but once you go up against another team, you will see the true heart and character of the players. Good to get that game experience in to get the players. Based on the personnel we get from Edmonton some decisions will be made about the roster will be made following that game."

Just 50 days remain until the Barons season opener October 9 at the newly renovated Cox Convention Center. Season tickets and mini packs are available by calling 232-GOAL (4625) or by visiting the Barons website at okcbarons.com.
