Barons Rally to Nip Youngstown, 4-3

The Cleveland Barons last night accomplished what it took 56 games last season to do, get 12 victories. The Barons accomplished the feat with a 4-3 come from behind victory over the Youngstown Phantoms.

Barons forward Jason Weeks( Seattle,WA) opened the scoring at the 7:06 mark scoring a short handed goal with the assist going to Neal Sheehan ( Avon Lake, OH) to give the Barons a 1-0 lead. Youngstown came back to tie the game up on a Kevin Huck goal at the11:29 mark and go ahead at the 15:50 mark with a Matt Lombardo goal to take 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, at the 7:58 mark, Barons captain, Nick Biondo (Parma, OH), tied the score up at two with assists going to Vinny Jalaba ( Beverly Hills, MI) and Brian Bicek (Downers Grove, I L). That would be all the scoring after two periods. Barons forward Adam Thomas ( Grand Rapids, MI), scored his first junior goal at the 9:05 mark of the third to reclaim the lead at 3-2. John Goebel ( Parma, OH) and Jalaba had the assist on the goal. Phantoms forward Greg Brown tied the score up again at three with a goal at the 12:56 mark. Then at the17:11 mark, Barons forward Vinny Jalaba capped a three point night scoring the game winning goal with assists going to John Goebel and Nick Biondo to give the Barons the fourth victory in a row and a 7-2-1 mark in the last 10 games. Barons goaltender Ian Keserich (Parma, OH) faced 45 shots with 42 saves while Phantoms goalie Tyler Sims had23 shots with 19 saves.

The Barons continue on the road next week with games on Friday and Saturday night in Toledo versus the IceDiggers, game time both nights is 7:30. Next Sunday the Barons play in Ann Arbor,MI against the USA under17 squad game time is 3:30 PM.
