Barons Players Take Part in Oilers Training Camp

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the Oklahoma City Barons, opened their training camp today in Edmonton, Alberta. Thirty-five of the 67 players attending the training camp have played with the Oklahoma City Barons.

Players attending the camp that played in Oklahoma City last season include goaltenders Laurent Broissoit, Ty Rimmer, Frans Tuohimaa, Richard Bachman and Tyler Bunz; defensemen Darnell Nurse, Martin Gernat, Jordan Oesterle, David Musil, Grahame Craig, Brad Hunt, Oscar Klefbom, Martin Marincin and Brandon Davidson; forwards Mitch Holmberg, Josh Winquist, Kale Kessy, Jujar Khaira, Collen Jones, Kellen Jones, Greg Chase, Travis Ewanyk, Steve Pinizzotto, Mark Arcobello, Will Acton, Matt Ford, Ryan Hamilton, Curtis Hamilton, Anton Lander, Andrew Miller and Tyler Pitlick. Former Barons include Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, Justin Schultz and Jeff Petry.

The Oilers open their 2014 pre-season schedule on September 21st against the Calgary Flames with split squads facing off in both Edmonton and Calgary. Following the series with Calgary, the Oilers hit the road for games in Winnipeg (September 24th), Saskatoon against Chicago (September 28th), and Vancouver (October 4th). The Oilers will play three games at Rexall Place, hosting the Winnipeg Jets (September 29th), Arizona Coyotes (October 1st) and the Vancouver Canucks (October 2nd).

Head coach Todd Nelson, along with assistant coaches Gerry Fleming and Tony Borgford are also in Edmonton assisting with the training camp. Nelson and his staff return to Oklahoma City prior to the start of Barons camp in two weeks.

The Barons open their training camp in Oklahoma City on Monday, September 29 at the Cox Convention Center. All training camp sessions are open to the public. The team's season opener is October 11 on the road against San Antonio. The Barons home opener is Friday, October 17 against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. For more information about tickets, call the Barons office at 232-GOAL.
