
Barons Kick-Off Inaugural Playoff Series at Regions Field

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons will host the Tennessee Smokies in the first two playoff games in Regions Field history on Thursday, September 5th and Friday, September 6th. All 2013 Barons playoff games in Birmingham are sponsored by Schaeffer Eye Center.
The playoff appearance is the Barons' Southern League-leading 10th in the last 15 and first since 2011. They will be looking to win their 14th league championship since 1906 and first since the 2002 season. The Barons have faced the Tennessee Smokies (formerly the Knoxville Smokies) twice in the Southern League playoffs since 1987 with the most recent occurrence coming in the 1993 Southern League Championship Series. The Barons prevailed in that series 3-1 to win their 12th Southern League Championship.
Tickets are on-sale at the Joe Drake Ticket office, Barons.com, or by calling the ticket office at 205-988-3200. The cost of tickets will remain consistent from the regular season with prices ranging from $7 to $14.
The series begins on Thursday with Thirsty Thursday presented by Schaeffer Eye Center where fans can enjoy 16 oz. beverages for just $2! The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive Rally Towels courtesy of Schaeffer Eye Center. On Friday, fans will be treated to a post-game fireworks show presented by Schaeffer Eye Center.
During both games, the Barons will hold a silent auction with proceeds benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Alabama. The auction will be held in the concourse behind home plate.
