
Barons Invite 4 Local Players and 1 NFL Legacy

RENO, NV (October 3, 2010) - Earlier this morning, Reno Barons General Manager Tim Pierce along with Head Coach Major Harris and Coach Jarrod Rogol announced the first five players that have accepted invitations to training camp. The list includes Reno area locals quarterback Thomas Peregrin, defensive back Ondra Berry, wide receiver and defensive back Isaac Porter, and wide receiver Scott Witter. In addition, the franchise also invited kicker Merf Trout. Over the next few weeks, the franchise will be releasing the names of other camp invitees.
Thomas Peregrin (6'3 200, Western Michigan) a native of Sparks, NV, Peregrin is currently a teacher at and football coach at Bishop Manogue. During his time at Western he had big wins against Virginia and Toledo in 2006. Over his career he played in 10 games starting in 2, went 45-75 passing for a completion percentage of 62.5% and 4 passing touchdowns.
Ondra Berry (6'2 195, University St. Mary Kansas) graduate of Reno High, Berry collected 86 tackles, 3 Tackles for loss, 6 pass break ups and 1 blocked kick at St. Mary.
Isaac Porter (5'11 190, Butte Community College) a native of Reno, Porter graduated from Hug High, where he had 530 carries for 4703 yards and 49 touchdowns earning League MVP, Best RB, Offensive Player of the Year in '04, All-State Running Back and All-State Defensive Back during his career.
Scott Witter (6'4 225) a graduate of Carson High, Witter led the north in receptions in '04 and was in the top 3 in '05. He also collected all league honors both years and played for Northern Nevada in the 2006 All-Star game.
Merf Trout (6'1 215, Graceland University) Trout, son of former NFL and USFL kicker David Trout who spent the 1981 and 1987 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and 1983-1985 with the USFL's Philadelphia Stars. Coming out of Graceland as a redshirt sophomore to enter the NFL Draft, Trout was ranked as the #2 Kicker in 2009. He comes to the Barons after having received several tryouts and private workouts with teams around the NFL including the Packers, Jaguars, and Saints.
