Barons Fall to Youngstown, 4-1

The Cleveland Barons wrapped up a seven game road trip (4-2-1) Saturday night with a 4-1 loss to the Youngstown Phantoms.

The Phantoms opened the scoring at the 9:06 mark with a goal by Rob Rassey that deflected off a Baron defenseman giving Youngstown a 1-0 lead after one period.

In the second period Phantoms forward Dan McClain scored at the7:14 mark of the second period giving the Phantoms a 2-0 lead after two. The Barons had many odd man chances in the period but goalie Tyler Sims turned away the 27 shot so far in the game.

The third period opened with a fluke goal by Phantoms Aaron Rhymer as Baron goalie Ian Keserich ( Parma, OH) went out to play a wrap around dump in the zone the puck hit the board and popped out in front of an empty Baron net for Rhymer to put it in for a 3-0 lead. The Barons broke up Sims shut out bid with a goal at the 10:43 mark by Brian Bicek ( Downers Grove, IL) with the assists going to Jason Weeks( Seattle, WA) and Matt Ruberto ( Stoney Creek, ONT). The Barons had 25 shots in the period and many scoring chances , but to no avail. Phantoms forward Jared Katz had an empty net goal to wrap it up for Youngstown.

Barons goalie Ian Keserich had 26 save on 28 shots while Tyler Sims had 51 saves out of 52 shots.

The Barons and Phantoms meet again Wednesday night, Thankgiving Eve at the IceLand USA in Strongsville, OH for a 7:05 tilt. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children under 14.
