
Barons defeat Toledo 3-2 in shootout

The Cleveland Barons defeated the Toledo IceDiggers tonight 3-2in a shootout victory at the IceLand USA Arena in Strongsville, OH.
The Baronsjumped out to 2-0 lead with goals by Jake Coyle (Brooklyn, OH) his 7th of the year and Pat Schafer his fifth of the year. The Ice Diggers cut the deficit to 2-1 after on a powerplay goal by Jake Hovick. In the third period Toledo forward Jared Katz tied game up with 15 seconds left, on the powerplay and extra attacker to knot the score at two. With no scoring in overtime , the team went to a best of five shootout. After five rounds, the score was tied at one goal a piece. In the sixth round, or sudden death, Barons goalie Blake MacNicol stopped the IceDiggers Jake Hovick, then Barons forward John Goebel beat Toledo goalie Eric Everson to give Cleveland the victory. Barons goalie Blake MacNicol ( Milan, OH) had 36 saves in the game to improve to 6-4-1.IceDiggers goalie Eric Everson had 24 saves.
