Richmond, VA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons beat the Richmond Braves 7-1 Sunday at The Diamond. Gavin Floyd pitched a strong seven innings to lead the Barons to their second straight win and a split of the four game series.
The Braves scored a first inning run on an Andy Marte RBI ground out. The Barons went ahead to stay with a three run fourth. Ryan Howard smashed a two-run homer, his fourth home run in three days, and Chris Coste chased a run home with a double. A bases-loaded walk in the sixth made it 4-1 in the sixth. Nate Grindell cracked a two-run homer in the seventh to give the Barons a 6-1 lead and Coste doubled another run home in the eighth to cap the scoring.
Floyd earned the win, allowing four hits in seven innings. Grindell had three hits to lead a 13 hit Red Barons attack. Tony Pena had two hits for the Braves.
