October 30, 2010 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Reno Barons News Release

RENO, NV (October 30, 2010) - The Reno Barons has signed a player who is being considered one of the biggest AIFA acquisitions this off-season. Former Nevada Wolf Pack Lineman Kika Kaululaau will be attending camp with Barons and bringing his five years of arena football experience with him. In addition, former Wolf Pack corner Shannon Sevor who spent 2009 with the Arena Football League 2 Stockton Lightning has committed.

Kika Kaululaau (6' 330 Nevada), earned letters at Nevada in both 2000 and 2001. His first season with the Wolf Pack, he was voted both new comer and big hitter of the year. Going into 2001, he was voted team captain by his peers. The 2001 Wolf Pack roster also included current Detroit Lions Wide Receiver Nate Burleson. After his senior season, Kaululaau was a 2001 All-WAC 2nd Team selection and had the honor of playing in the Hula Bowl under Steve Spurrier and Bob Stoops. Kaululaau brings five years of arena football experience to the Barons after playing in af2 for the Bakersfield Blitz, Quad City Steamwheelers and Austin Wrangles, playing every position other than quarterback and defensive back. During his five year arena football career, Kaululaau blocked a total of 17 field goals.

"I remember coaching against Kika in 2008 when I was with the Amarillo Dusters," stated Barons Special Teams Coordinator Jarrod Rogol. "One item our franchise has been looking for is a veteran that can step in from the start and anchor the defense as well as be a leader in the locker room. Kika will be able to do just that and the fact that he can play on the line, linebacker and also fullback in short yardage situations, will be of great benefit."

Shannon Sevor (5'11 200 Nevada), comes to the Barons after spending the 2009 af2 season with the Stockton Lightning. During his time at University of Nevada from 2003-2008, he recorded 64 tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and three quarterback hurries. The 2005 season saw the Wolf Pack earn the WAC Championship and Sevor face UCF in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl where he defended two passes and recorded four solo tackles in man to man coverage with NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall of the Miami Dolphins. Sevor's ability to excel and pure speed will be a welcome asset.

Other Signees Include:

Bernard Payton II (5'11 210 Malone University), Athlete, played for the IFL's Abilene Ruff Riders in 2009 and the Bloomington Extreme in 2010. Payton led the Extreme with 843 total yards, 15 touchdowns and 90 points.
