
Barcelo Goes The Distance For Toros

TUCSON, AZ - The Tucson Toros improved their season record to 34-30 with a convincing 9-2 win over the Orange County Flyers, Friday night. The win also improves the Toros' second half record to 17-9; and they remain atop the South Division standings as they make a push for a playoff spot in the GBL post season.
Lorenzo Barcelo improved to 8-5 as he went the distance Friday night. Over the nine innings worked, the veteran righty gave up two runs, one earned, on six hits. Barcelo also fanned six Orange County batters in the win.
Toros' designated hitter, Dustin Yount, got the home team's offence started when he hit a two-run blast in the bottom of the first. On the night Yount went 2-4, scored two runs and drove in two RBI.
Junior Spivey also had a great night at the dish as he went 3-3, hit a double, scored three times and knocked in one RBI.
Skip Adams and Andre Marshall also had multi-hit performances as they each went 2-4.
Game two of the three game set is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm tomorrow, at Hi Corbett field. Gates open at 6:00 pm.
