October 14, 2007 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
St. Louis Bandits News Release

The St. Louis Bandits played three games series against the Springfield Jr. Blues this week. The Bandits came out strong and finished strong taking both of the home games, Tuesday 5-2 and Saturday 5-1. Tuesday's game was the second annual D.A.R.E. School Day game sponsored by the Bandits and with over 300 local school kids in attendance they were able to best the Blues 5-2. The Bandits were led by Tommy Brooks who contributed 3 assists, Mike Hull 2 goals and Cal Heeter 24 saves.

Firday night saw the game move to Springfield's Nelson Center where the Blues are always tough to beat. The Blues came out flying and scored the games first 4 goals. The excitement or tension came to a head in the second period when several fights broke out but the momentum did not switch to the Bandits and the Blues finished them off 5-1. The Blues Kyle Greco had a big game with 3 assists and Phil Cook was steady in net when called upon with 26 saves.

Saturday night would be the rubber game of the week with the venue switching back to the Bandits home the Summit Center. Both teams played a tentative tight checking first period with neither team wanting to make the first misstep. The Bandits were able to sneak two behind Cook in the second period and took control from there. The line of Mike Merrifield, Ben Warda and Josh Rabbini were all over the ice all night notching 3 of the Bandits 5 goals. Cal Heeter was a calming influence in goal all night making the big saves when needed and allowing few if any second chances. Bandits returned the favor from Friday night matching the score but flip flopping the result for a 5-1 victory.

The Bandits are atop the North Division with 18 points and a 9-2-0 record. They host the Road Runners from Topeka next Friday and Saturday night at the Summit Center.
