Bandits Sign Two Veterans

BUFFALO, N.Y. (December 7, 2006) -- Buffalo Bandits Director of Lacrosse Operations Dave Zygaj announced today the team has re-signed defenseman Billy Dee Smith and signed forward Tony Henderson.

Smith will return for his fifth season as a Bandit. The 6-foot-3, 215 lb. defenseman scored a career-high five goals last season, while also picking up 42 loose balls and collecting 45 penalty minutes. His 207 career penalty minutes ranks fifth on the Bandits' all-time list. Smith, a native of St. Catharines, Ont., was selected by Buffalo with the third overall pick in the 2002 NLL Entry Draft.

Henderson joins the Bandits after spending last season with Minnesota, where he recorded six points (3+3) in five games. A six-year NLL veteran, Henderson has played for Syracuse, Philadelphia, Arizona, and Minnesota prior to signing with Buffalo. His best season came in 2003 with Philadelphia, where he notched 51 points (31+20) in 16 games. In 38 career games, Henderson has 50 goals and 34 assists.
