
Bandits Sign Three Players

Buffalo, N.Y. (August 24, 2005) --- Buffalo Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott announced today the team has signed defenseman Troy Bonterre, and forwards Lindsay Plunkett and Jaime Rooney to two-year contracts. As is club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. All transactions are subject to league approval.
Bonterre (6'3'', 260 lbs.) appeared in 13 games during the 2005 season with Arizona, recording three assists and 25 penalty minutes. In 29 career games, the Owen Sound, Ont. native has registered five assists and 100 penalty minutes.
Plunkett (6'3'', 210 lbs.) set career-highs last season in assists (22), goals (14), points (36), loose balls (49) and penalty minutes (14) in 12 games for Arizona. During the 2005 Champions Cup, he led the league in assists (10) and ranked fourth in points (14). In 31 career games, the Peterborough, Ont. native recorded 35 goals and 48 assists for 83 points, while registering 22 penalty minutes.
Bonterre and Plunkett were acquired from Arizona on July 13, along with a tenth-round selection in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft in exchange for forward Jason Crosbie, Buffalo's selection in the Anaheim Dispersal Draft (9th Overall) and the fifth-overall selection in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft.
Rooney (5' 10'', 165 lbs.) appeared in 43 regular season games for the Elora Mohawks of the Ontario Lacrosse Association's Junior âB' League. In that span, the Kitchener, Ont. native ranked sixth in the league in assists (43) and ninth in points (75). He led the first-place Mohawks in every offensive category during the regular season, including goals (26), assists and points. Rooney ranked third on Elora in penalty minutes (36).
In 16 playoff games, Rooney ranks second in the league in goals (26) and points (55), and fourth in assists (29).
