Bandits Sign Martin, Sweeting to 2-Year Deals

The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team has signed defensemen Justin Martin and Bryce Sweeting to two-year contracts. Both signings are pending league approval.

Martin (5'11", 185 lbs., 4/4/1995) returns to the Bandits for his fourth season after playing in all 18 regular-season games for the second consecutive season, scoring one goal and recovering 33 loose balls. Martin also played in all four of the Bandits' playoff games, tallying one assist and causing three turnovers. The Oakville, Ontario native played collegiately for the University of Guelph Gryphons before being selected by Buffalo in the second round (13th overall) in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft.

Sweeting (6'2", 190 lbs., 7/7/1994) will enter his second season with the Bandits after posting four points (1+3) in 15 games with Buffalo in 2018-19, tying his career high in assists and setting a new career high in loose balls recovered (49). Sweeting also set new postseason career highs in games played (4), goals (1), points (2) and loose balls (11) and finished the playoffs tied for eighth in scoring by a defenseman with two points (1+1).

The Peterborough, Ontario native spent the previous three seasons playing for the Colorado Mammoth, recording eight points (3+5) in 37 games, before being acquired by the Bandits in a series of trades prior to the 2018-19 season. Sweeting was selected by Colorado in the fourth round (32nd overall) in the 2015 NLL Entry Draft.
