Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

The Quad Cities River Bandits got back to their winning ways on Sunday afternoon at Modern Woodmen Park, bouncing back from a quiet doubleheader the day before to pound out 10 hits in a 6-1 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

After being shut out twice on Saturday, Quad Cities (2-2) got on the board in the first inning on Sunday and led the whole way. Wisconsin (2-2) stranded 12 men on base in all, tallying 10 hits but scoring just one run.

The River Bandits jumped out to an early lead in the opening frame. After two quick outs Justin Roberson singled and stole second, eventually scoring on a base hit by Domnit Bolivar.

The score was tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the third when Quad Cities snatched the lead for good. Pete Kozma singled to start the rally as six straight men reached base with one out. Kozma and Roberson were both aboard when Charlie Pelt delivered a two-run double to the gap in left-center, and later in the frame Charlie Kingrey plated Pelt with a liner up the middle for a 4-1 lead.

The River Bandits added single runs in the sixth and eighth innings to put the game away, both of which were driven in by Adron Chambers. Mike Folli tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly in the sixth before the final insurance run was added on Chambers' single in the eighth.

Wayne Daman (1-0) earned the win out of the bullpen, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings in relief of starter Blake King, who struck out six over 3.1 frames. Piggyback starter Andres Rosales (2) got the save, twirling three shutout innings of his own to close the game.

Rob Harmon (0-1) took the loss after getting tagged for four runs on seven hits in 2.2 innings.
