LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks announced Monday that they have picked up the 2009 options on utility player Boe Baitinger and outfielder Aaron Davis.
Baitinger broke into professional baseball with the RiverHawks last year. He hit .175 with no home runs and two RBI in 20 games.
Baitinger finished his NCAA career with Division III Carthage College last spring. He hit .385 with four home runs and 17 RBI and stole 34 bases his senior year.
Baitinger, who turns 23 in May, has Rookie-2 status in the Frontier League.
Davis hit .247 with three home runs and nine RBI in an injury-shortened season. Davis suffered from a strained hip flexor and appeared in just 26 games before he ended the season on the retired list.
The third-year pro is a career .285 hitter. Davis, 25, has Rookie-2 status.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. May 21 at Windy City and play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti.
