Jackson Generals News Release

MONTGOMERY, AL - Right-hander Moises Hernandez was called for back-to-back balks in the 10th inning, scoring Willie Argo and the Montgomery Biscuits (30-36/65-71) walked-off with a 1-0 victory over the Generals (29-37/60-75). Jackson starter Tyler Pike (3-4, 7.35) was perfect for 5.1 innings, but ended up taking a no decision on the night. The walk-off win for the Biscuits is their third straight over Jackson in Montgomery. The two teams combined for just five hits and one extra-base hit.

Pike had struggled this season on the mound for the Generals, but he was almost flawless on Tuesday. He held Montgomery without a hit for 5.1 innings and did not allow a run in his 6.0 innings pitched. Pike also struck out five and walked three Montgomery batters.

The Biscuits first hit was achieved by Jake Hager with one out in the sixth. Taylor Motter followed with a base hit of his own, but Pike induced a double-play ground out from Richie Shaffer to get out of the inning and preserve the shutout.

Pike was matched inning-for-inning by his opposition as Mike Colla held Jackson scoreless for 7.0 innings. Colla also allowed two hits as he struck out four and walked two.

The game remained scoreless into extra innings as Hernandez came out of the bullpen in the 10th inning. With two outs, Alejandro Segovia doubled and Willie Argo came in to pinch run for him. Then, with Jeff Malm at the plate, Hernandez balked twice to score Argo with the winning run.

Bryce Stowell (4-2, 1.99) picked up the win for Montgomery as he went 2.0 scoreless innings. Hernandez was the tough-luck loser for Jackson as he fell to 0-8 on the season.

There was not much offense to go around for the Generals as the tallied just three hits, all from different players. D.J. Peterson (1x4) earned the first hit of the game as Pat Kivlehan (1x3, BB) and Dario Pizzano (1x4) followed with base hits of their own later on in the game.

The Generals will attempt to even the series with Montgomery Friday at Riverwalk Stadium. Lefty Cam Hobson (8-10, 4.35) will make the start for Jackson as Montgomery will send Dylan Floro (10-13, 3.62) to the rubber. The game will begin at 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
