
Bachman Is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former ECHL and current Dallas Stars goaltender Richard Bachman is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for December.
The leading distributor of game- worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray sold more than 700 game-worn jerseys in 2010-11 and has sold more than 6,000 since it became "The Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL" in 2002-03.
The 24-year-old was 5-2-0 with one shutout, a 2.76 goals-against average and a save percentage of .912 in nine appearances for the Stars in December. Bachman stopped all 11 shots he faced on Dec. 8 against San Jose after entering the game in the third period, and two nights later, stopped 26 of 27 shots to earn a 2-1 win against Los Angeles in his first NHL start. Bachman turned aside all 34 shots he faced on Dec. 13 at the New York Rangers to record his first NHL shutout, and won his third conseuctive game on Dec. 15 at the New York Islanders with 25 saves on 27 shots.
Prior to being recalled by Dallas on Nov, 27, Bachman appeared in 15 games with Texas of the American Hockey League going 7-6-1 with two shutouts, a 3.13 goals-against average and a save percentage of .887.
The Salt Lake City, Utah native saw action in 35 games with Idaho during the 2009-10 season where he was 22-7-4 with four shutouts, a league-leading 2.28 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910. That season, Bachman represented the Steelheads in the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game in addition to being named the goaltender on the ECHL All-Rookie Team .
A fourth-round selection (120th overall) of the Stars in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Bachman spent the entire 2010-11 season with Texas posting a record of 28-19-5 in 55 games with six shutouts, a 2.20 goals-against average and a save percentage of .927.
There have been 480 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including 13 who have made their debut this season and 23 in 2010-11. The ECHL has had 288 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 224 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last seven seasons for an average of 32 per year.
