B-52s Fall Last Night in Dallas; Rematch at Hartman Tomorrow Night

January 3, 2014 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Wichita B-52s News Release

The second meeting between the B-52s and the Sidekicks proved to be a much better example of this young squad's potential. While Wichita were held to only three goals again, a strong defensive showing kept this game tight. After going into the half down 1-3 with Cordoves getting on the board, a quick rally in the 3rd drew the game level through Brian Cushing netting a volley on his debut, and Kevin Jackson finishing a rebound. Dallas pulled ahead just a minute later, then grabbed two more in the 4th, one of which occurred on a B-52s 6th Attacker. The 6th Attacker jersey was donned for the very first time by Captain Chris Lemons who made two big saves and was out of the box for the final Dallas goal.

The B-52s went 1 for 2 on powerplays and held Dallas scoreless for all three of their powerplays -a vast improvement from the season opener's 4 for 4 for Dallas. Dallas's top goal-scorer and fourth in the league, Lovegrove, was silenced until the last 42 seconds of the game. Hernandez, Dallas's number two goal-scorer and seventh in the league, was unable to get a goal for the first time this season.

"It was a very entertaining and hard fought game tonight. We are disappointed not to get the win on the road against a very good team, but at the same time we are encouraged by our progress in just 7 games to complete with one of the league's elite teams.

Unfortunately, we have had to battle a lot of serious injuries to key players and leaders on this team, so tonight's performance goes to show how the young, first-year professionals are stepping up in learning and growing in the game.

That being said, in order for us to begin our journey to be recognized as a league contender, we must strive to make the level of discipline and determination we had tonight our standard of excellence every single game." -Coach Inlow
