
Axemen Set to Take on Cavalry

Bemidji, MN - The Bemidji Axemen are traveling to Casper, Wyoming to taking on the Wyoming Cavalry in the second matchup between the two teams this season. The Axemen won the first matchup 92-49 in Bemidji back during Week 4.
The Axemen enter the game on a two-game losing streak, falling to the Cedar Rapids Titans 48-37 in Week 6 and losing to the Nebraska Danger 48-38 in Week 5. The Cavalry, on the other hand, have player their two strongest games of the season, beating the Texas Revolution 28-24 in Week 6 and dropping a nail-biter to the Colorado Ice last week, 51-50.
The Axemen offense will be anchored by wide receiver Ryan Balentine. Balentine leads the team in receiving, catch 20 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns. In the first matchup between these two teams, Balentine led the team with eight catches for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Quarterback Hunter Wanket earned IFL Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Cavalry in Week 4 after completing 13 of 21 passes for 226 yard and six touchdowns. In addition, Wanket added three more rushing touchdowns.
Wide receiver Maurice Patterson makes his first to return to Casper after suiting up for the Cavalry last year. In the Week 4 matchup, Patterson caught three balls for 44 yards with each catch turning into a touchdown.
Defensively, the Axemen have been led by linebacker Jory Johnson. With 28 tackles on the season, Johnson earned Honorable Mention IFL Defensive Player of the Week honors three weeks running leading up to Bemidji's second bye week of the season last week. In addition to 28 tackles and five-and-a-half tackles-for-loss, Johnson has recorded four sacks and two interceptions, including one returned 30 yards for a touchdown in Cedar Rapids two weeks ago.
Kickoff is slated for 7:00pm MST/8:00pm CST tonight. The game will be broadcast on AM 820 KPRM and AM 870/103.1 FM WBKK. A webcast can also be seen online at AmericaOneSports.com.
