(Yuma, AZ. February 12, 2011): Every game in the Arizona Winter League game on Saturday was decided by two runs or less.
Arizona Roadrunners 4
Western Canada Miners 6
A five-run bottom of the third inning was all the Western Canada Miners (5-2) needed to defeat the Arizona Roadrunners (2-5) in the morning game at La Voz Field at Desert Sun Stadium. The Roadrunners committed seven errors that halted any chance of a comeback to beat the Miners. Gabe Demarco hit in his eighth RBI of the year, and Maurice Williams knocked in two-runs to contribute to the victory. Both pitchers had complete games; Johnny Holley (2-1) outlasted Justin Bautista (0-2) to notch his second straight victory on the year. Holley pitched seven innings giving up four runs, scattering five hits and striking out seven. Western Canada battles Long Beach Saturday at 1:00 pm on field two at Desert Sun Complex, while the Roadrunners battle Yuma in the morning game at 11:00 am. WP - Holley (2-1), LP - Bautista (0-2).

Team Canada 8
Team Mexico (3-4) scored five runs in the top of the seventh to comeback against Team Canada (3-4) for a 9-8 victory. Trailing 8-2 going into the sixth inning, Mexico scored 7 runs in the final two innings to win in dramatic style. In the top of the seventh, trailing 8-4, Mexico loaded the bases with no outs, and Wes Dimmitt hit a two-run single, followed by an RBI single by Richard Bargewell. With the game tied at 8-8, Anwar Burrell hit a liner up the middle to score the go-ahead and final run. Hoon Namgung (2-1) came in in relief to pitch three and 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on one hit for his second victory of the year. WP - Namgung (2-1), LP - Hector (0-1).
Saskatchewan SilverSox 11
San Diego Surf Dawgs 10
The Saskatchewan SilverSox (5-2) maintained their portion of the lead in the International Division by narrowly defeating the San Diego Surf Dawgs (5-2) 11-10 due to a late rally that scored seven runs in two innings for the SilverSox. Trailing 6-4 heading into the top of the seventh, the SilverSox dropped a six spot on San Diego to take the lead for good. Matthew Wilkerson led off the game with a homerun, he also hit in three RBIs. Victor Valdez, Aaron Bonds and Casey Kahsen all had RBIs in the game as well. Jonathan Lewis (1-0) came into relief, pitching one and 2/3 innings pitched, getting his first win of the year giving up no runs and scattered three hits. Billy Robbett (1-1) accounted for his first loss pitching an inning of work, giving up one run on two hits and walked one. WP - Lewis (1-0) Robbett (1-1), HR: Wilkerson (1).
Long Beach Armada 8
Sonora Pilots 7
The Long Beach Armada (3-4) knocked the Sonora Pilots (4-3) out of a tie for first place in the International Division in the Arizona Winter League, beating them by a fine margin 8-7. The Armada got RBIs from Martin, Jaramillo, Friedman, Martinez, Irokawa, and White. The Pilots scored five runs in the fifth but it was not enough to take the lead from Long Beach. Brent Stamnes (2-0) got his second victory in as many appearances, going four innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three. The Armada battle the Miners at at 1:30 on Saturday, and the Pilots take air against the SilverSox at 1:30 at La Voz Field. WP - Stamnes (2-0), LP - Jake Winteres (1-1), S - Osone Makato (1).
Blythe Heat 10
Yuma Scorpions 11
The Yuma Scorpions (4-3) extended their winning streak to three to tie for the lead in the American Division after defeating the Blythe Heat (4-3) 11-10 in another close game in the Arizona Winter League on Saturday. The Scorpions scored at least one run in every single inning, and they needed all eleven of those runs to beat the Blythe Heat. Nicholas Naegele, Mitchell Johnson, and Mike McGuckin all doubled and drove in runs for the Scorpions. Tate Kelly (1-0) picked up his first victory of the year, pitching a complete game 13-hitter, giving up 10 runs and struck out seven. WP - Kelly (1-0), LP - Ryan Cramer (0-1)
