Western Canada Miners 3

The Sonora Pilots (9-7) upset the Western Canada Miners (10-6) 4-3 in extra innings to advance to the semi-finals against the Yuma Scorpions on Saturday. In the top of the first inning, the Pilots Joseph Kala hit a two-run single to give Sonora the early lead. Sean Boatright hit in two runs for the Miners for his fifteenth RBI of the year. In the top of the ninth inning, the Pilots scored the game-winning run on Matt Groezinger's sacrifice fly. Dennis Goodline (2-2) pitched two scoreless innings allowing just two hits and striking out two. WP - Goodline (2-2), LP - Jared Simon (5-2)

Blythe Heat 2

Team Canada 3

Team Canada (11-5) needed extra innings to dispose of the Blythe Heat (7-9) 3-2 to advance to the semi-finals to take on the #1 seed Saskatchewan SilverSox on Saturday. Jesse Brown started off the scoring for Canada with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to extend the lead to 1-0. Louis Templeton doubled the lead to 2-0, when he cashed in a run on an RBI double. Blythe tied it up in the top of the sixth, with an RBI triple from Brandon Howard who was cashed in by AC Grable's RBI groundout. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded Faizi Mouzoon hit an RBI single to win the game. WP - Kevin Patterson (2-0), LP - Todd McGee (3-1).

The Semi-Finals for the Arizona Winter League will be at La Voz Field at Desert Sun Stadium. The first game is the Sonora Pilots taking on the Yuma Scorpions at 11:30 am, and the Saskatchewan SilverSox battle Team Canada at 1:30 pm.
