San Diego Surf Dawgs 1

Team Canada (4-4) climbed back to .500 by defeating the San Diego Surf Dawgs (2-6) 4-1, to drop San Diego to the worst record in the Arizona Winter League. Both pitchers threw complete games, but Canada starter Jose Reese (1-0) outlasted the Surf Dawgs' Mario Canealis (0-1). Davis Page slammed his second triple of the year, and knocked in an RBI to propel Team Canada to their fourth victory of the year. Reese pitched seven innings giving up just one run (none earned) on three hits and struck out four. Team Canada returns to play Tuesday against Blythe at 1:30 pm, while the Surf Dawgs battle the Pilots at 1:30 as well. WP - Reese (1-0), LP - Canealis (0-1).

Arizona Roadrunners 5

The Yuma Scorpions (5-3) needed extra innings to take care of the Arizona Roadrunners (2-6) 6-5 in eight innings. Nicholas Naegele continued his hot hitting knocking in three runs to push his total to 11, third place in the Arizona Winter League. Naegele hit an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning for the go-ahead run over Arizona. Marcus Chavez (1-0) came in in relief to pitch three and 2/3 innings surrendering three runs on four hits and striking out four, for his first victory of the year. Yuma looks to extend its winning streak to five when they take on Long Beach at 1:30 on Tuesday at La Voz Field at Desert Sun Complex, and the Roadrunners try to snap their three game losing streak when they encounter Team Mexico at 11:00 am on Tuesday. Blythe Heat 14

The Blythe Heat (5-3) blew out Team Mexico (3-5) by 10 runs in a 14-4 victory where David Carter was a double shy of the cycle. Carter hit a two-run homer, his first of the year, in the bottom of the third, along with his third triple of the year to knock in six RBIs on the day to push his league leading total to thirteen on the year. Todd McGee (2-0) pitched a complete game for his second win of the year, giving up four runs on seven hits and striking out five. Blythe brings the heat against Canada on Tuesday at 1:30 pm, and Mexico battles Arizona at 11:00 am. WP - McGee (2-0), LP - John Johnson (0-1), HR: David Carter (1).

Western Canada Miners 2

Long Beach Armada 0

The Western Canada Miners (6-2) blanked the Long Beach Armada (3-5) 2-0, to extend their winning streak to five games. Jared Simon (3-0) pitched a complete game, throwing a scoreless seven innings giving up just three hits, striking out seven and lowered his ERA to 1.50. The Miners got both of their runs off Ryan Williams RBI single and fielders choice that brought in a run. The Miners have a showdown with the Saskatchewan SilverSox for the first place in the International Division on Tuesday at 11:00 am at La Voz Field at Desert Sun Stadium. The Armada look to pillage the Scorpions at 1:30 on Tuesday.

Sonora Pilots 2

The Saskatchewan SilverSox (6-2) remained atop the International Division in the Arizona Winter League after defeating the Sonora Pilots (4-4) 10-2 in part because of a six-run fourth inning. The SilverSox got three triples in the game from Christopher Davis, Aaron Bonds, and Tony Trevino, each their first triples of the year. Yuki Tatematsu (1-1) delivered his first win of the year, pitching four innings giving up two runs (none earned) on two hits and striking out five in the victory. WP - Tatematsu (1-1), LP - Loren Lauver (0-1).
