Aviators sign three international players to roster

Edmonton, April 7, 2004- Today, the Edmonton Aviators announced the signing of three international players to their MenÂ’s A-League team.

Jaime Lopresti is a 30 year old, 5’9”, 165 lb. midfielder. He is a highly respected player who has spent the majority of his pro career playing in Chile. Lopresti has played for a number of Chilean Division 1 teams, having played most recently for Colo-Colo. Lopresti also played on the Chilean World Cup team in both 1996 and 2003.

Claudio Salinas is a 30 year old, 6Â’0Â’Â’, 170 lb. defender. He is considered to be a great technical player who is strong in the air and poised on the field. Salinas has also played extensively at the elite Division 1 level in Chile. Salinas played with Lopresti for Colo-Colo, before moving on to play for F.C Everton-Vina Del Mar where he has spent the past two years.

Enzo Ferrari is a 22 year old, 6’2”, 190 lb defender. He is an Italian player with previous experience playing at the Division 1 level. Enzo is known for his athleticism and his strength in the air.

“We have put a great deal of time and effort into signing these talented players. All three are world-class players who offer us strength in a very competitive A-League”, said Petrone, Director of Soccer Operations for the Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club. “These players will arrive in Edmonton next week to join the Aviators training camp”, said Petrone.

The Edmonton Aviators are the newest addition to EdmontonÂ’s professional sports scene. Both the Aviators MenÂ’s and WomenÂ’s soccer teams will play in the United Soccer Leagues. Both teams will play at Commonwealth Stadium beginning in spring of 2004.
