Aviators open training camp

Edmonton, April 7, 2004 - The Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club will open Training Camp for their Men's A-League Soccer League team.
The Men's team will hold an initial try-out camp for local U-18 players on Thursday, April 8th. This preliminary evaluation camp will be used to select players who will be invited to the Aviators main training camp. The Edmonton Aviators Men's team will officially open their main camp on Monday, April 12th, with medicals and physicals being the first order of business.
Players will take to the field for the first time on Tuesday, April 13th at 10:00 am. The training camp will run for the duration of the week. The Aviators expect to announce the final roster the week of April 18th.
All Training Camp sessions are scheduled to take place at Foote Field. In the event of inclement weather, sessions may be moved to an indoor facility.
"We are very excited about Training Camp dates for our inaugural season. A lot of work has been put into signing both local and international players that will make us a highly competitive team this season", said Joe Petrone, Director of Soccer Operations for the Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club. "Our head coach, Ross Ongaro has put a great deal of time into planning what we expect to be a very up-tempo camp", said Petrone.
The Edmonton Aviators are the newest addition to Edmonton's professional sports scene. Both the Aviators Men's and Women's soccer teams will play in the United Soccer Leagues. Both teams will play at Commonwealth Stadium beginning in spring of 2004.

Please be advised that dates and times can change with little notice, however, we will endeavor to keep you all informed of any changes as soon as possible.
Players and coaches will be made available to the media following scheduled training sessions. The Edmonton Aviators will also be putting out a number of media releases throughout the week.
The Aviators Men's team will announce their final roster the week of April 19th.
