Jackson Senators News Release
Jackson, MS- After taking the first three games of the series against Coastal Bend, the hot Senator bats were doused by "Texas" Mike Smith who threw a complete game. The Aviators gave Smith plenty of run support with 7 runs on 9 hits, taking the ballgame 7-1. Jackson had 7 hits in the game with 5 coming in the first 2 innings. Jackson scored their only run in the 1st inning on a Josh Tranum single that scored Josh Hoffpauir. Tranum was the only positive in the game with a 3 for 4 night at the plate. Jackson shot themselves in the foot defensively, committing 4 errors in the game, with 2 of them leading to immediate runs for the Aviators. With Jackson committing mental mistakes, Mike Smith took over and overwhelmed Jackson for 6 innings, including a stretch between the 3rd and 8th where he sat down 15 batters in a row. In total, Smith collected 10 K's and continues to lead the league in that department with 61 in 9 starts. This ballgame finishes a 4 game series with Jackson taking 3 out of 4.
