BROOKLYN, New York - The Federal Hockey League announced today its 2011-12 Season Award Winners, which include three Brooklyn Aviators, as the FHL concludes its second year of regular season play this week.

Aviators' defenseman Ken Trentowski, and forward Andrew Owsiak were named to the first-ever All-FHL Rookie Team, while team executive Carmine Vetrano was named Co-Executive of the Year.

"This is a great honor for both of Ken and Andrew," said head coach and team president Rob Miller. "These two young gentlemen have been tremendous players for us all season and it's nice to see their hard-work paid off. I couldn't be happier for them, they deserve it."

Trentowski, 23, was named the FHL's Rookie of the Month for January and currently leads all Aviator defensemen in goals (6), assists (26), points (32) and games played with 43. The Yale University product also ranks ninth among defensemen in scoring with his 32 points, and his 26 helpers leads the entire Aviators club.

"I owe a lot of my success to the team this season," the Ronkonkoma, NY native said. "It's a great honor to win this award in my first year of pro hockey, but I couldn't have done it without my teammates and Coach Miller."

Owsiak, 24, also won FHL hardware when he took home the Rookie of the Month award for his play in December. The Moose Jaw, SASK native is second on the club in points (43), goals (17) and assists (25) in 40 games played so far this season. His 43 points ties him from second most among the FHL All-Rookie Team.

"This has been an exciting first year of pro hockey for me," the Dartmouth College product said. "To be named assistant captain and now to win this award all in my first year is something I'll always remember."

Vetrano, 25, is in his second year with the Aviators and works as the club's Team Executive that primarily handles all media and broadcasting duties. In addition, the Kings Park, NY native works alongside Miller with the day-to-day operations for the club on and off the ice.

"This is a great honor to win Co-Executive of the Year," said last year's FHL Broadcaster of the Year. "I work my hardest to make sure that the Aviators are always in a positive standing with the league and public. I owe a lot of my success in the past two years to the Aviators and FHL."

Via the FHL press release, all recipients will be presented with their awards during the first round of the playoffs.
