
Aviators Men Earn First Ever Win by Beating Calgary in Overtime

Edmonton, June 28 â The Edmonton Aviators Men Earned the franchise's first ever A-League win tonight, downing the Calgary Mustangs 1-0 in overtime at Commonwealth Stadium.
The first half belonged to Aviators midfielder Sean Fraser who made some brilliant runs down the right side that resulted in some good chances but no goals.
From there, both teams went back and forth creating some quality opportunities, with Edmonton showing the most offensive promise. Despite their efforts, the half ended knotted at 0-0.
The second half saw the Aviators take control of the game. Edmonton had several good chances to score. Most notably, both Gordon Chin and substitute Chris Lemire rang shots off the cross bar.
Regulation ended tied at 0-0.
The Aviators continued to push forward in overtime bringing the Commonwealth fans out of their seats. In the 106th minute, Chris Lemire played the ball to Gordon Chin at the top of the Mustangs' penalty area who turned and fired a shot into the top corner of the net to give the Aviators their first ever win.
"This was a long time coming," said Aviators Head Coach Ross Ongaro. "We've played well enough to win on a few occasions this year but failed to put the ball in the net. Tonight, the guys showed some real heart winning this game in overtime. The future looks good for this team."
The Aviators Men's next game is on July 4th at Vancouver (8pm MST).
