Brooklyn Aviators News Release

BROOKLYN, New York - The Brooklyn Aviators won their first game of the New Year after defeating the visiting the Danville Dashers 3-1 on home ice in Federal Hockey League action on Sunday night.

Jesse Felten, Chase Watson and Andrew Scampoli all had a goal and an assist for Brooklyn in the victory.

Watson gave the Aviators a 1-0 lead with just 24-seconds left in the first period to record his second goal of the season. Paul Weisser found Scampoli at the Dashers' blueline with a great outlet pass to start the breakout. Scampoli broke into the zone down the middle and fed Watson in the right wing circle, who then cut towards the slot and slipped the puck past Danville netminder Brenton Lindoff.

Brooklyn jumped out to a 2-0 edge on Felten's 16 th goal of the year, which came shorthanded, at the 2:25 mark of the second period. Felten skated into the Dashers' zone - off a Watson pass - and let a wrist shot go that beat Lindoff under the blocker. Justin Barr put the Dashers on the board and cut the deficit to 2-1 with his team-leading 13 th marker of the campaign with 11:52 left in the middle frame.

Scampoli added a late power play goal with 4:25 left in the third to ice it for Brooklyn, 3-1, for his third tally of the year.

Aviators' netminder Pete Dundovich earns the win stopping 30 of 31 shots, while Lindoff is charged with the loss after making 26 saves.

The Brooklyn Aviators return home on Friday night when they take on the visiting New Jersey Outlaws at the Aviator Sports and Events Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. and can viewed live via the Aviators broadcast network, powered by LiveSportsVideo.com
