Brooklyn Aviators News Release

BROOKLYN, New York - The Brooklyn Aviators doubled-up the 1000 Islands Privateers 6-3 on Saturday night at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Federal Hockey League action.

Ken Trentowski and Jesse Felten both had two goals on the night to lead the Aviators over the Privateers for the second straight time this season.

1000 Islands opened the scoring in the first period on Ryan Pearson's third goal of the year. Pearson camped out in front of Aviators' netminder Jo St. Pierre and tapped home a pass from Adam McAllister at the 8:52 mark. Privateers' goalie Matt Anthony was solid in net for his squad stopping 17 shots in the opening frame.

Brooklyn erupted with four goals in the second period to take a 4-1 lead after two periods of play. Trentowski registered his first tally of the game on a great individual effort down low just 2:26 in to tie the game 1-1. The rookie defenseman made a nice move around the Privateers defense and slipped the puck under the right pad of Anthony. He quickly collected his second of the period, and of the game, after his wrist shot snuck past the glove of Anthony. Felten and Casey Mignone padded the Aviators lead with goals of their own to put Brooklyn up by three after forty minutes.

The Privateers scored an early goal at the 1:34 mark to cut the Aviators' lead to 4-2 on Brad Smulders 10th goal of the season. 1000 Islands would then register a late tally from Mike Richard with 7:00 left to bring the score to 4-3, however it was a too late as Brooklyn popped in two of their own, from Matt Atsoff and Felten, to secure the 6-3 victory.

St. Pierre stopped 34 shots en route to his third win in an Aviator jersey, while Anthony picked up the loss despite making 35 saves.

The Brooklyn Aviators return home on Friday night when they take on the New Jersey Outlaws at 7:35 PM.
