Edmonton Aviators News Release

Edmonton, AB- The Edmonton Aviators Men had their modest two game winning streak put to an end Wednesday night in Seattle at Seahawks Stadium.

Sounders defender Kevin Sakuda scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half. The controversial goal was disputed by the Aviators who claimed that it was scored on a handball.

The Aviators controlled much of the possession for the remainder of the match and had a number of glorious chances but could not find the back of the net.

The match continued to be intense throughout the second half, with both teams picking up red cards. Sounders midfielder Jason Farrell picked up the first red card of the game, followed by Jamie Lopresti who received his third red card of the season in the 85th minute. Gordon Chin was also was yellow carded for the Aviators.

"Tonight was an excellent game. I thought we controlled the possession and created a lot of chances, however we just came up a little short", said Aviators A-League Head Coach Ross Ongaro. "Despite the result our guys definitely deserve a pat on the back for the way they battled", said Ongaro.

The Aviators Men remain in sixth place in the A-League's Western Conference, with a record of 2 wins, 6 ties, and 5 loses.

The Aviators Men will continue their west coast road trip tomorrow night in Portland as they will take on the Timbers at PGE Park. The Aviators Men will then return home to play the Vancouver Whitecaps Tuesday night at Commonwealth Stadium as part of a doubleheader with the Aviators Women's team.
