
Aviators announce team captain

Edmonton, April 29, 2004- Today, the Edmonton Aviators announced that Kurt Bosch has been named the teams 2004 Aviators Men's Team Captain.
At 28 years old, Bosch has an accomplished soccer career. The majority of Kurt's soccer career has been played in Edmonton. In addition to playing for the Edmonton Drillers (1997-2000), Bosch has also played in the Alberta Major League for Edmonton Victoria (1997-2003), and was a member of the University of Alberta Golden Bears (1996-2001). Bosch currently serves as the Technical Director for the Edmonton Juventus Soccer Club (2002-present) and is the Assistant Coach for the Golden Bears Soccer Program.
Bosch has also played professionally in the A-League for the Montreal Impact (1995) as well as the Calgary Storm (2002). Internationally, Bosch has played for the Canadian National Futsal Team (2003).
"It is an honour to be appointed captain for such a promising new franchise", said Kurt Bosch, Captain of the Aviators Men's team. "I am excited about my role and am confident that the talent I have witnessed to date will make us a force to be reckoned with", said Bosch. "I want you to know that I am committed to doing my utmost to provide strong leadership to our new team".
The Aviators are confident that Bosch will provide excellent leadership to the team's young and talented players. He is well respected amongst his fellow players and throughout the soccer community.
"Although we have a lot of great leaders on our team, Kurt is the obvious choice to be named the Aviators Men's team captain. He is extremely popular amongst the players, has strong Edmonton roots and conducts himself very well in the community", said Ross Ongaro, Head Coach for the Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club. "We are fortunate to have someone with Kurt's skills and abilities and look forward to working with him to build our franchise", said Ongaro.
The Edmonton Aviators are the newest addition to Edmonton's professional sports scene. Both the Aviators Men's and Women's soccer teams will play in the United Soccer Leagues. Both teams will play at Commonwealth Stadium with the first home game scheduled for May 30.
