Los Angeles Avengers News Release

LOS ANGELES - Even though it is the off-season, Avenger players, coaches and "A-Team" dancers regularly visit schools, hospitals and community events.

This week, "A-Team" dancers Jessica and Pennee spent Thursday, July 19 at the Third Annual Y's World of Kids Day at Kenneth Hahn State Park. Jessica and Pennee took the opportunity to sign autographs, take pictures with participants and serve as honorary judges for the spirit cheer contest.

"These little kids were so enthusiastic about their cheers," Jessica said. "It's always rewarding for me to put smiles on their faces."

More than 800 participants came from several of the local Los Angeles YMCAs. The event also had various inflatables, booths and games.

When the Young Men's Christian Association was founded in London, England in 1844, 12 young men banded together in a Judeo Christian fellowship to "develop in spirit, mind and body." Today, the Los Angeles YMCA is still dedicated to the objective of bringing people together in purposeful association to accomplish important personal and social goals.
